The creative lab
Stormy’s Creative Lab is a hands-on, high-energy space where imagination meets execution. Designed as a series of open-ended workshops, these labs provide young makers with the tools, environment, and inspiration to turn their ideas into reality.
Whether they are building, designing, or decorating, the Lab is all about the process of discovery and the joy of personalizing a project from start to finish.
How the Labs Work
To ensure every participant gets the right level of challenge and peer collaboration, we host two distinct sessions at Stormy’s Creative Lab:
• The Explorers (Ages 6–10): This session focuses on the pure joy of artistic expression. Activities are designed to be highly digestible and age-appropriate, emphasizing tactile fun—painting, embellishing, and assembling—to bring the "Theme of the Week" to life in a way that is easy to understand and exciting to complete.
• The Creators (Ages 10–14): In this session, we bridge the gap between art and functionality. While still focusing on creative self-expression, these participants work on projects they can actually use. They’ll dive into construction and design, making choices about form and utility to customize personalized items for their daily lives.
What to Expect
Each session is structured to move from a "spark" of inspiration to a finished creation. Stormy’s Creative Lab is built on three core pillars:
1. Exploration: Every week features a new theme and fresh materials—ranging from textiles and wood to gems, paint, and mixed media.
2. Mentorship: We provide the guidance and age-appropriate tools needed to help them master new skills safely and confidently.
3. Community: Participants work alongside their peers, sharing ideas and providing feedback in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
Why Stormy’s Creative Lab?
In a world of pre-packaged toys and screens, Stormy’s Creative Lab offers a return to active learning. It’s a place where there are no "wrong" answers—only experiments, personal touches, and the breakthrough moment when a project finally comes together.
